Dagtocht met kleine groepen naar de vulkaan Lakagigar per Super Jeep vanuit Klaustur

We had a wonderful day with Gudmann, co-owner of the Secret Island business and guide. As the season is winding down, there were just my husband and I going to Laki volcanic area with Gudmann. We were extremely comfortable in his super jeep despite rough roads and fording rivers. Gudmann is extremely accommodating, informative and shared with us a wealth about not only the geology of the area but also about the his history and growing up in a small, rural Icelandic community. The scenery on this trip is spectacular and we will take many great memories of this day with Gudmann back to Canada with us.

Una bellissima escursione in super jeep con Trausti, proprietario e guida di Secret Iceland. La sua guida prudente ci ha permesso di rilassarci e godere dei bellissimi panorami; inoltre ci ha raccontato molte informazioni interessanti e aneddoti sul parco. Premettendo che io e mio marito abbiamo superato i 50 anni, non siamo sportivi e non frequentiamo abitualmente la montagna, tenete presente che il primo hiking dura circa 45 minuti (dipende dal vostro allenamento) e, soprattutto nella parte finale della salita al Laki, il percorso è un po' roccioso e non semplicissimo (ma se ce l'abbiamo fatta noi, può riuscirci chiunque abbia una forma fisica più che discreta). Il secondo hiking dura un po' di più ma è più pianeggiante. Poi ci si ferma alla cascata e al bel canyon. Dopo il ritorno dalla salita al Laki, si fa una sosta per il pranzo (che dovrete portarvi; qui ci sono anche i wc). Non do' 5 pallini perché l'escursione è molto costosa: penso che dovrebbe durare almeno 30 minuti (meglio 1 ora) in più per permettere a chi non è super veloce di godere un po' di più dei panorami e fare qualche foto quando si raggiungono le mete dopo tanto cammino e fatica! Inoltre, visto il costo elevato, durante la pausa pranzo dovrebbero offrire almeno acqua, caffè e té: avrebbe un costo irrisorio per la compagnia e sarebbe un gesto molto apprezzato dai clienti. Comunque da non perdere.

Wir, drei Erwachsene, haben diese Tour mit Trausti Isleifsson sehr genossen, obwohl das Wetter nicht optimal war (bedeckt bei hohen Wolken und sehr kaltem Wind). Trausti hatte viele interessante Informationen zur Landschaft und Geschichte der Laki-Ausbrüche und beantwortete alle unsere Fragen etwa zur Landwirtschaft und zu unseren geplanten Strecken mit einem gemieteten Dacia Duster. Im Super-Jeep sprach er in gut verständlichem Englisch über Lautsprecher und war damit auf allen Plätzen sehr gut zu hören. Wir hatten zwei weitere Erwachsene und zwei Jugendliche als Mitfahrende und haben unterwegs die Plätze durchgetauscht, obwohl jede(r) einen Fensterplatz hatte. Wir wurden am Hotel abgeholt und dorthin zurückgebracht. Wir haben erst bei Abfahrt bezahlt. Bei Nebel ist die Tour - wie viele Fahrten in's Hochland - nicht zu empfehlen.
