I booked the Bisoke hike with Rwagasabo Safari last minute and Serge was so accommodating! He came to where I was staying to take card payment, and arranged a driver to take me to and from Bisoke even though I was staying in a hard to find location.
The hike itself was the most challenging physical activity I've done but absolutely worth it. It took us ~4 hours to go up and ~4 hours to go down. It can be completed more quickly but we had to be careful as it had been raining and was very slippery.
It is very steep, so it's definitely a whole body workout, a mental workout too! There were points where I wanted to turn back but the porters and guides were supportive and helped us get to the top.
At the top (3711m above sea level) you have such a beautiful view over Rwanda and the crater lake that sits half in Rwanda, half in the DRC. You get such a huge sense of accomplishment too.
The hike is not for the faint hearted, but you will not regret doing it. The meal included on return was very much needed!
