The overall experience was fine.
The rides on the bus are very very long. Getting to the different places do take time.
The tour guides with us are more companions/chaperons than tour guide. They give basic knowledge of the culture and the area but they’re not giving deep cultural facts and knowledge whatsoever.
1/The excursion on the boat ride and the visit of the island was nice. Cloudy weather that day so take a hoodie (winter season in Peru now). The emcee on our boat could barely speak English as it was meant to be an English tour ride. But we saw flocks of dolphins and birds and sea lions. That was nice.
2/Lunch and the wine tasting was real nice. They prepare everyone’s order on your way to the next destination so by lunch time, every orders are ready upon arrival. Smart!
You taste 6 different wines and pisco before, if you wish, purchases on demand.
3/Huacachina Oasis: it was probably the highlight of the day with a promise of Buggies and sand boarding. Once we arrived there, the chaperons say we only have 45min overall before we have to get to our next and last stop. The rush kicked in with an awesome buggy ride with an amazing adrenaline hit over the sandy hills. Was Awesome!
However, we get to a small hill where the driver gives us handmade wooden boards where we can’t even stand on and he says we just lay down on them to slide downhill!!!
Robbery!!! I was so upset as I was looking for that part of the tour all day. It took a few seconds before it was over, to soon return to the departing point where we were already late to the meeting point for departure.
4/ last stop: a souvenir shop!
So we rushed off Huacachina Oasis to get to a souvenir store! A joke!!!!
That stop is not only unecessary but was completely unexpected of an end tour.
We all barely bought something to snack and drink on with toilets you have to pay for in order to use it.
It was already night by then and the long ride back knocked everyone off (2h20min).
At hotel in Miraflores by 21h30.
Overall, a good tour experience.
