What a wonderful day. Flight with the amazing Blake who gave great info on landmarks and locations as we flew over them. Then to the Mitchell plateau where we had a thrilling helicopter ride over the falls. then off on our guided walk with the fun and helpful LT. lovely packed lunch, Australian bush, water crossings and a swim in the Most delicious water hole. memory day indeed. All the staff were fun and made us feel included and welcome at all times.

So, the elephant in the room here is that this day trip is expensive. You're not going to get much change out of $2000 per person. But, it's a fabulous trip that provides you with "one with the lot" when it comes to experiencing the highlights of the Kimberly Ranges. It's an enormous day that starts with a pre-dawn flight from Broome to the Mitchell Plateau air strip. There you are met by your guide. Ours was the marvellous Collie, an Indigenous local, who had prepared damper to enjoy with jam, honey, tea, and coffee. You're then driven on the world's worst dirt track to the Mitchell Falls campground for a short helicopter ride to the spectacular Mitchell Falls. Collie then took us on a 5k walk back the campground that involved numerous "Kodak moments", of which there were many. Be warned--this is tough walk! The ground is very rocky and rough and there are some very difficult patches to negotiate. Don't think it's a stroll in park. Be prepared and wear the right gear. In the middle of walk we stopped to enjoy a very nice lunch prepared for us in Broome, and close to the end of the walk we rested our muscles in a waterhole complete with waterfall shower. Back to the campground and another 4wd trip to the airstrip for the two hour return flight via the Horizontal Falls, the Buccaneer Archipelago, and other coastal sites, including whales. The tour was professionally run and every person we dealt with was friendly, helpful, and informative. Our young pilot, Blake, gave us a terrific running commentary during both flights, and Collie was brilliant in highlighting features of the land that we would never otherwise notice. He really provided a strong sense of the connection to the land that is so central to the lives of the Indigenous people of the area. It's a long day--a huge day--and it's not cheap, but it's superbly organised, and I enjoyed one of the best day trips I've ever experienced. Well done to all involved.

This tour is outstanding. While it may seem expensive, it really is great value for money. Our pilot Akrem was excellent, providing a genuinely engaging overview of the history and biogeography of the region we flew over. It was also a real privilege to have local guide L.T. on the walk around Mitchell Falls to explain his country, including the art, and where appropriate, their stories. The beauty of the region speaks for itself. All the staff were fantastic, and great attention to detail and customer service. I would do it again.
