Rongai-route - 7 dagen, Kilimanjaro

If you are thinking about climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, do it! Monkey Adventures will take care of you. A most amazing journey! Our guides, Amos and Regan, were incredible! The were kind and funny, patient, calm and knew when to give us a nudge if we were faltering! If not for them, especially on summit night, it wouldn’t have happened! The porters were crazy good! They would pack up the campsite after we had already left on the trek, pass us on the path, and when we got to camp, everything was ready and all we had to do was relax. Everyone kept smiling and was ready to help us with anything we needed. I upgraded my sleeping mat and hired the private toilet. I would recommend doing both! The Therma rest mat made sleeping a little more comfortable and the private toilet, when it was cold or dark out, was a lifesaver! The public toilets are the ones where you squat over a hole. To be avoided if at all possible! They bring you a bowl of hot water and a bar of soap twice a day at your tent so you can clean up. The food was very good and plentiful, all thanks to Dixon and his crew. I especially enjoyed the ginger tea and the banana fritters. The whole trek is done very slowly to help you acclimatize to the altitude. I’m telling you, contact Monkey Adventures and begin planning your climb Mount Kilimanjaro!

We booked the expedition back in 2020 and had to cancel because of Covid. The Monkey team was very kind to let us keep the refund until we were ready to rebook a date which we did this year. The communication and organisation (all done via email) have been excellent from start to finish. Once in Moshi, we were impressed by the punctuality and professionalism of the team and we were really delighted by the level of support we received on the mountain from the entire crew (special mention to our chef who spoiled us every day with delicious meals - think homemade pizza at 4000m!!). For part of our honeymoon, we did the 7 day Rongai route with Tino and Joakim and had a fantastic experience. My wife has never done any trekking or altitude like this before and they made her feel so comfortable throughout the trip. The whole team was so friendly and felt like family by the end of the week. Fantastic trek with great people and we were able to make the summit. I will be recommending Monkey Adventures, Tino, and Joakim to all of my friends interested in visiting Tanzania.
