This is the second tour I booked with Saif, after a great hike to Jebel Shams the previous day.
We took a beautiful walk through an old village with stunning architecture and got to tour the rosewater processing facility. While there, we got to see a step-by-step explanation of the rosewater making process. We then got to sample different mists and oils, some of which had oud or frankincense added to them. It was a really informative yet fun and interactive sensory experience. Saif had brought his Canon camera with him and took some lovely pictures for us, that he later promptly sent to us via an online link (attached to this review). After seeing the flowers in bloom during a short walk on a nature trail, we got to experience a STUNNING sunset from the Jebel, followed by an Iftar meal at a nearby restaurant.
One of my favourite parts of the excursion was the evening stop at Birkat Al Mouz, an old town with some of the most beautiful buildings I’ve seen (restored ruins) with a little cafe. It was a magical experience with the full moon beaming down on us and the palm trees surrounding us while we drank our tea and took it all in. Honestly still stunned by all the beauty Oman has to offer.
We then had a fun car ride back, listening to music together and singing along. Saif was really kind to drop me off with my friends once the excursion was over, rather than my original pickup point at my hotel.
I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for gorgeous old buildings, easy nature strolls and stunning views of flowers in bloom at sunset!
