We took an Uber from our hotel in N.Y.C. to get to the aquarium. The (elevated) F train ends right in front of the entrance to the aquarium. The neighborhood is not the best, but right next door is the famous Coney Island amusement park.
In the aquarium we saw the sharks, the sea lions, the penguins being fed early in the morning, an octopus, turtles, and lots of other interesting marine life. We were fortunate to arrive just after the facility had opened, before the school groups arrived. Once the school groups get there, it becomes very crowded which detracts a little bit from one's overall enjoyment. Particularly fun was that there are tunnels under some of the aquarium tanks, you can sit in the tunnel and look up at the fish swimming above you, a nice touch.
We noticed exhibits devoted to "spineless" creatures, including a "hall of fame," which we found to be amusing.
The cafeteria is OK. We ate lunch there. This is N.Y.C., so admissions prices to the aquarium are relatively high, but overall worth it.
