Queimadas-Caldeirão Verde

The actual hike is further on the ground than advertised, but as it is mostly flat we managed the distance with no trouble. The walk in itself is very varied, with constantly changing scenery and vistas, but our guide (Sofia?) made it even more interesting, pointing out flora which in England are classed as plants or bushes but which grow into trees on Madeira! Examples included varieties of heather and, most surprisingly, the dandelion! She also kept us aware of hazards, such as particularly narrow sections of the pathway and, in the tunnels, where there was a risk of damage to our heads. By the end of the trip we had gained a very understanding of the history of the levadas as well as the unique landscape of the island.

Door en door genoten van onze wandeling! Onze chauffeur en reis Gids zorgde uitstekend voor ons tijdens de reis. Prachtige uitzichten onderweg met aan het einde van de wandeling een geweldige waterval.

Een geweldige wandeling met Madeira Free Spirit Walks, op tijd opgehaald (zoals gewoonlijk) en zodra alle wandelaars in het busje zaten, kregen ze een debriefing van de dag. Onderweg naar de wandeling gaf Alvaro informatie over het eiland, inclusief de luchthaven, de bouw van de Levadas en het eten op Madeira. Alvaro is een professionele gids, hij zorgt ervoor dat alle wandelaars zich op hun gemak voelen met het tempo, stopt om ervoor te zorgen dat we tijd hebben om geweldige foto's te maken en legt uit wat we zien... of het nu de vogels, de bomen of de wind zijn. We stopten voor een kopje koffie aan het einde van de wandeling en hadden tijd om te praten over de prachtige wandeling. Beveel dit bedrijf ten zeerste aan en zal opnieuw bij hen boeken.
