We booked this Pushkar Food Walking Tour pretty last minute (1 Nov afternoon, for the following day 12 noon). It was only the following day at 12 noon when we were waiting at the meet up point that we were told that because the booking was made at the last moment and a shortage of guides, they have to reschedule our tour to later in the evening - fair enough, we knew we booked it last minute, though they could have informed us earlier before we made our way to the meet up point.
Our tour guide was Sandeep, who was pretty knowledgeable in the ins and outs of Pushkar, given that he's from there. He was very approachable, upfront, answered all our queries, and showed us various street food to try. We ended up at his relative's cafe where we learnt more about his family, his religious beliefs and culture - very pleasant experience. He was eager to share his food and culture with us, even encouraging me to try certain dishes when I hesitated, saying that it is a local dish of Pushkar and I should just give it a try haha.
However, I felt that the street food tour could be more structured. It seemed pretty unplanned and that he was just going with the flow with no pre-planned direction in mind. I'm not sure if it's because our booking was last minute and they weren't prepared? The itinerary also states start/end at The Coffee Temple, but we never made it there! It didn't seem like our tour guide knew that that was part of the plan.
My boyfriend did like how chill the food tour was though, as he was feeling peckish that day.
It was nonetheless, a good experience. Sandeep met us at our hotel, and then brought us through Pushkar Market to try any food we wanted / pick out dishes for us to try. I got to eat various dishes that I definitely wouldn't have tried on my own as well as gained more insights into Pushkar, its people and the food. Would recommend if you want to have a taste of Pushkar's Street Food with a local!
