Although it was slightly out of peak season the four of us went in the hope that we would see a glimpse of the Northern Lights using the expertise of Reykjavik Excursions.
When on the trip the guide said that there would be a 95% chance we would see them even though a website I looked up before getting on the bus had it as unlikely.
We were then taken to a spot near the airport with lights from there visible and a lighthouse with a waffle van with lights next to all the buses. Surely out of the whole of Iceland there was a darker spot than this!
Predictably we never saw any and although we were offered the chance to rebook we could not bear a repeat of the 3.5 hours that would see us having next to no chance to see the lights.
Can’t see how the trip offers anymore expertise than just picking a quiet spot on the map an hour from the city.
