Lang was our guidon a 3D2N trek from Sapa out into the countryside. Our group started with 11 trekkers but som were one day trekkers and some were 2 day trekkers. I would definitely remember 3 days if you have the time and energy. By day three it was just Lang, my husband and me. Three days out gets you away from where most other trekkers are headed. Most of the day we saw only local people and experienced more beautiful landscapes.
The trek starting Sapa and by the time you start to develop into the forest there are local women there to “help” you along the trail and to sell you there wears. Lang told us this would happen and I had also read about it so had planned to use the opposite to buy gifts for friends and family since we weee at the end of our Vietnam trip.
The trekkers was a bit more challenge on the 2 day because it was more up and down through bamboo forest and across the rice paddies. You need to be completely scrambling at bit but Lang was always there to help. Definitely go for 3 days if you can manage the time and trekking. We had more time to chat with Lang and take things a a comfortable pace for folks in their early 60’s.
The home stays were comfortable and always had a hot shower after a day of trekking.
While the landscape is stunning what made the trip truly memorable was
Our guide, Lang. She was open, friendly, funny and shared about her community and family to give us a greater appreciation for the people and the landscape.
