Trust me, if you like the outdoors and are adventurous and remotely fit, this is one of the best daytrips we've ever done. It's such a unique experience and an amazing way to see and experience Slovenia, and Jure our guide was so kind and experienced and was amazing with my 12-year-old daughter.
I'd give it six or seven stars if possible. Would definitely and strongly recommend to any friends or family or anyone really visiting Slovenia.
This is not the company [person] you want to do this tour with.
Red flags were there throughout.
the owner 'Jure' arrives 30 mins late, with (by self admission) no excuse, a bit unprofessional as it left us very insecure thinking our one day there was lost.
There is also noticeably no assistant - it is just him guiding us.
We ask if we can take our cameras - he informs us clearly not to "as he will take all the pics and vids we like", we showed our concern about this - as of course images are such a big part of these experiences - however he reiterated, fully assuring us there was no way it could go wrong. It does also say on his website - 'do not take cameras, they always have a Gopro photographer', so of course we reluctantly left them behind.
After the climb up, we seemed to detour from where the normal tour groups enter the canyon - he takes us to a scramble down a mountain where we cannot see where we are walking on at all, and we both get endlessly tangled up in twisted roots and twigs, falling about we sustain leg and ankle cuts, bruises and injuries before we even begin (and just to be clear, we are VERY fit able males) - there is no way normal tour groups could normally enter this way, I almost broke my leg when traversing a tree branch under moss got tangled in both my feet and made me trip badly down a steep slope - but we do not let non-critical injuries stand in our way, we just continue and not to tend to the injuries and wounds when we get back.
Along the way, it seemed obvious we should have a 2nd person there to belay or set up the advertised and advert photos of ziplines etc - but we didn't get any of that.
We also note, that there is really no photos being taken ! so... we start to ask for them, he 'complies', but along with obviously minimalist opportunities when the guy doing safety ropes is also the photographer you can see it is difficult and awkward (dare I say dangerous?) with one person holding you over 50m drop with a waterfall crashing against him while he fiddles with his left hand to try and get a 'phone' (no not the promised GoPro, just a phone out of his pocket and fumbles around with it)
After the trip, we ask to get the photos straight away (as we are already worried), he can't airdrop or give via USB, but promises to send - anyway I'm sure you can see where this is heading - long story short - he does not send us the photos or the videos of our trip, as he says his phone is broken, we try and offer all sorts of ways to help fix - but he doesn't let us help with any ideas - then he just stops communicating - extremely unprofessional, shameful really - leaves us beyond disappointed and wondering what on earth just happened (along with literally [licking/] attending to our wounds from the overall experience - having added several quite significant bruises from the actual canyoneering to our initial leg wounds just getting there.
Look, Fratarica could have been a good experience, I simply advise people to use a different (read bigger) company than this - tbh I think Jure just operates on his own or sometimes with his girlfriend or similar - it's in no way the experience you should have. We could look past the injuries, but not the very unprofessional way Jure stopped communicating our help, and leaving us no image memories.
We have since returned and did this trip again (with another company) - it was great that time. Simply message me if you want the details, but there are many companies offering similar - choose someone who has an office in Bovec, then at least you have accountability and a 'team' - not just a solo one man outfit.
