Doubtful Sound wilderniscruise vanuit Te Anau

We booked onto The Wilderness cruise and coach trip to Doubtful sound. We got picked up at Frankton, which is only 10 mins out of Queenstown at 7.45am by coach. The lady coach driver was really informative and spoke to everyone via a headphone set. Told us heaps of stuff about the areas we were driving through before we got to Te Anau. The coach trip took nearly 2.5hrs and we stopped for quick toilet and coffee break en route. We paid $638 for both of us. Its a long day as we got dropped back at Frankton around 8pm, but totally worth the time and the money. The whole day was amazing and included a catamaran from Te Anau across Lake Manapouri then a 45min coach to Doubtful sound wharf, to then board a bigger Catamaran and cruise along Doubtful. Doubtful is 10 times bigger than Milford so you get more for your money as your seeing more. Complimentary unlimites tea and coffee on the cruise. Wrap up warm if a chilly day as the boat cruises at a good pace. Staff were super helpful, like they were all a big family. We saw loads of wildlife along this cruise and Doubtful is stunning. You just have to do this its fantastic.

Der Ausflug mit Real Journeys zum Doubtful Sound war unglaublich schön. Bei Bodennebel führte die Strecke über den großen Lake Manapouri vorbei an zahlreichen Inseln mit einem traumhaften Panorama. Vom Wasserkraftwerk führte der Weg weiter im Bus zum Doubtful Sound mit einem fantastischen Ausblick von der Passstraße auf den Meeresarm. Die Strecke bis hierher gefiel mir sogar besser als der Sound selbst. Die Schiffsfahrt am Doubtful Sound führt vorbei an beeindruckenden Felswänden, kleinen Inseln und Wasserfällen bis zu den Seebären-Kolonien am Meer. Die Fahrt wurde mehrmals von Tümmlern begleitet. Alles in allem ein großartiger Ausflug!

Haven't made it to Norway, but this tour may give a run for the money! Did the hotel pickup option out of Te Anau, so got a bus to Manapouri (good commentary by driver), Catamaran across lake Manapouri, bus to Doubtful Sound with stops along (gravel) road, cruise through the sound to the Tasman Sea. Too many perfect waterfalls (end of summer) to count or photograph, seals on the rocks, seabirds diving to scare fish to surface and nosing into seal "nursery" and waterfall spray experience. Milford sound was a challenge when we came, but my wife, who had been to Milford sound before said this was better: I believe it!
