Loved it, pictures don’t do it justice actually. The hot pools are great, you can jump out and carefully walk into the cold river for an invigorating dip and back into the warm pool. There are 3 pools, each costing €3 and you get a free locker provided at each pool. With this particular trip you stay at the pools for 2 hours, I wish that bit was longer actually. Once you’ve taken a dip you can stroll into the gorge and there are ‘off the beaten track’ paths that lead to caves, be careful though as they contain bats and you may disturb bears or wolves.
You then drive 40mins to Edessa to see the magnificent waterfall. Again, pictures on here don’t do it justice. You can walk through the back of the waterfall on a bridge and there is also a hidden cave for €1 which is amazing inside. You can walk to the bottom of the waterfall and get blown away by the mist. Our host then walked us around the maze of the town to a 4th century church, an old water mill and then back to a lovely restaurant for lunch (not included) before the journey home. Definitely worth the money.
I had considered trying to do it cheaper on bus but in hindsight I’m glad I took this trip. The buses are long and apparently still would cost €20 or so, plus this trip gets you to the pools before most other tourists and to Edessa and back by approx 4-4:30pm.
