My trip to Vanuatu was a surprise golden birthday celebration planned by my husband. I got to know of it only when I checked in at the airport. It was a beautiful surprise beyond my expectation.
I had not heard of Vanuatu before this (apologies for my lack of general knowledge) our flight to Brisbane with Singapore airlines ( Business class) and thereafter a connecting flight via Virgin Australia to Port Vila was comfortable.
Our point of contact in Vanuatu was Asha, who met us at the airport. Her calm and welcoming nature made us feel at home immediately.
The transport to the hotel was arranged. We got a Vodafone SIM for 5 days and changed some money for Vatu currency and we're on our way to Mangoes Resort.
The room for us was well appointed with basic necessities and was comfortable.
The staff at Mangoes were kind and thoughtful. A surprise bottle of champagne for my birthday was a beautiful gesture.
We were there for 3 days and loved every minute of it. I loved the garden at Mangoes resort and the avocado tree full of fruit.
On Day 1, after a sumptuous breakfast at Mangoes resort we headed to the Chocolate factory with Spenser and Adam from Bountiful. They were good company. Next was the Cultural experience village an insightful experience into the sustainable life of the local people, the dances and songs were most enjoyable.
Our next stop was the turtle attraction, followed by a lovely massage in a beautiful secluded beach. The massage was done by the experienced BI AN CA. You can ask for her through Asha. Thank you Asha for organizing this lovely experience.
Our next stopped was blue lagoon, we had our lunch and fruit platter there. Spent the rest of the evening at Banyan Bar, walked back to Mangoes, It was a good walk seeing local life, the people are kind and acknowledge you as they pass by. We stopped at local carnival 'Vanuatu made' we were attracted by the lively music they played. We visited a few stalls. and walked back enjoying nature.
Day 2 We had Spencer and Helena to take us on the tour, we made a stop at a local vegetable market to see the kind of local vegetables available. Brought some raspberries, and tasted Nangas and Navel local fruit for the first time.
The ride to Pele island was good, in spite of the rain and potholes on the road, the boat ride to the island was fun. We heard stories of the cyclone and it's destruction on the island, visited a Presbyterian church being built by a generous donation of a visitor to the island. Saw the well dug during WW2. Had the entire beach stretch to ourselves. Got some good grounding at the white sands of Pele beach.
Next stop was the Hideaway island, spend the time there snorkeling with the corals and beautiful fish.
Next stop was Beach bar Fireshow. One of the best fire show I have seen, loved it.
Day 3 We woke up late, waked to stone grill had a good beef stake, this came recommended by Spencer, thank you Spenser. Walked back to Mangoes, we like to walk, rested, packed. Our pick up by bountiful arrived for us to take us back to the airport.
We had a lovely experience, I want to thank Bountiful Tours and Transfers for making our time at Vanuatu a memorable, comfortable and enriching experience.
Cheers and gratitude to Asha, Stephan, Adam, Helena.
