Wandeltocht door Londen met politie en criminaliteit

We just finished this wonderful tour, London Police & Crime Walking Tour, with our guide, David. He is a retired sergeant from The Metropolitan Police Department and was a fountain of knowledge and some was from personal experience while on the force. It was a great tour for those wanting to learn about the history of London with a focus on the start of policing and famous crimes. The walk was a leisure stroll and David was very accommodating to the senior members in our group. My tour contact, Francis, was very personable, responded quickly to emails, and went above and beyond to accommodate our group. The meeting point was easy to locate and David was waiting early for us. I highly recommend this as a “must do” tour while in London!

Deze tour werd ons aanbevolen door anderen en stelde niet teleur. Wij zijn een gezin van vier waarvan één met een politieachtergrond en twee tieners. Onze tour was een kleine groep, beginnend bij Covent Garden Market en eindigend bij New Scotland yard, die ongeveer 2 uur duurde. Onze gids, Francis - een gepensioneerde politieagent, was gemakkelijk te vinden met grote communicatie vooraf. Zijn tour nam ons mee door het gebied en ontvouwde de geschiedenis van de wetshandhaving in Londen. We leerden ook over fictieve misdaden en detectives uit literatuur en tv/films, waarbij Francis zelf een groot verhalenverteller was. Zijn ervaring als gepensioneerd agent bood zijn ervaring met misdaad en politie, terwijl hij als Londenaar met uitgebreide kennis van de stad ook in staat was om de tour af te stemmen op onze vragen en interesses. Een geweldige manier om een middag door te brengen om een ander perspectief van Londen te krijgen.

If you're looking for something different than the serial killer tour, this is the tour to take. I am in the policing profession and have taught courses in the academy and college. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was a fascinating, historic look at policing in the UK. The best part, we had a police professional leading the tour. It was personal, fun, and heartfelt. Cop stories are the best. The tour was well-organized, took us to historic buildings that had previously been used by the Met and the courts, as well as to the old Scotland Yard, which is now a hotel. We also got to go to an active police station. Francis told wonderful stories of his experiences. He wove in the history of the British criminal justice system and gave us etymology on phrases that I never knew, based on that history. We also learned a lot about how London developed and why neighborhoods took on certain characteristics. The best part were the personal stories from the streets, including encounters with the queen and cases of international intrigue. This is an excellent tour for anyone involved in policing in America - or anyone who just likes crime stories in general. A definite highlight of our trip.
