We went on the Zambezi Reflections for a sunset cruise and dinner. The cruise itself was lovely. We saw hippos, crocodiles, and elephants. The sunset was incredible!
We were advised to do a dinner and cruise combo. It was 100 USD per person. We deeply regret dinner on board the Zambezi Reflections boat. I think (not completely sure), that if we did only the cruise, it would be 60 USD per person.
The drinks were included. The wines were terrible, the cocktails were terrible, and they basically served the cheapest liquor possible. If you intend to get drunk, then it will get the job done. But if you intend to have a lovely glass of wine as you glide along the river, you'll be disappointed. Instead of having an all-inclusive drinks package, they'd be better off offering two drinks per person but making sure they were serving quality drinks.
The starter board was terrible. They had one piece of broccoli and 2 other things. They sounded good on paper but were atrocious. For starters, we opted for beetroot carpaccio, and it wasn't terrible. For the main course, we decided on veggie pasta, and once again, it was not good. Neither of us finished it. It's hard to screw up a simple veggie pasta, but somehow they managed. The dessert, too, went untouched by me. And I LOVE dessert. I promise I am not being picky. I am a terrible cook myself, and I rarely waste food. This meal was an exception.
The cruise was good, but the dinner was a gigantic waste. Of course, these reviews are subjective. There are many fantastic reviews for this company. Maybe our experience was just a fluke. They might just have been having a bad day.
