Do NOT go on any of their trips!!! They are terrible, and steal your money!
We booked the excursion to an activity in Chichén-Itzá on May 19th from the Expedia travel website, for $265.97 for 2 people.
Upon our arrival at our hotel, our concierge called the phone number for Yalku tours, to confirm our pick up point at the hotel. The conversation was done in Spanish and English, and our pick up location was confirmed with the hotel, as well as ourselves.
We got up at 6:00 am the following morning, to be at the pick up location agreed upon the day before at 7:00 am.
We waited 15 minutes, until 7:15 am, when I decided to call Yalku Tours. They said they would show up soon. We kept waiting, I called again, they said that they were on their way to Playa del Carmen, that they could not pick us up at the hotel anymore, and that we should take a Taxi to some pick up location in Playa del Carmen.
They were unable to send us an exact address of the new pick up location, just a picture. We spent $50.00 to take a taxi to Playa Del Carmen from our hotel, to find out the tour left without us yet again. They blocked my phone number and wouldn’t take my calls anymore.
Now, we had to spend another $50.00 to get back to our hotel from Playa Del Carmen. So the $265.97, that were charged on my Amex were wasted, since we never got to go on the excursion, despite the fact, that we waited at the designated pick up location agreed upon with our concierge, as well as ourselves at 7:00 am. On top of that, we wasted $100.00 on taxis as well.
I had some of the conversations with the driver from Yalku Tours on my phone with WhatsApp, but they unfortunately got deleted, otherwise I would include them here as well.
I am of the opinion, that Yalku Tours should refund our money. Not only did we lose an additional $100.00, but it ruined an entire vacation day, and we never received what we paid for. Thank you!
