We just went to Florida for vacation. We stayed in a beautiful vacation home, close to WDW and went to each of those parks the first few days before ending it with Universal on the Friday. I had been there back in 2007 but I was young, and I had gone with my family, this trip I went with my partners family. We had a blast on the rides, (except for kong - the animatronic was beautiful but the ride wasn’t worth it) but the crowd control was terrible. It seemed like Universal doesn’t tell there staff when they are closing early or when they’re having graduation parties after 6:00 P.M. We were shocked to find out the day before that the park closed at 6:00 P.M but I guess it’s because of a few reasons? They base their times on ticket sales and resort booking but it seemed crazy crowded but that’s probably because everyone wants to go to the same areas and it gets crazy fast. The staff seemed very overwhelmed when it came to food services. We waited an hour for $20 personal pizzas, almost felt like I was waiting for a ride. Speaking about the rides, they were quite fun, we really enjoyed them (except kong) and had fun but people were just leaving the lines to cut in front of other people and the staff just didn’t seem to care or there wasn’t enough staff to control these lines. My mother-in-law almost had a group of 17 year-olds (they told us they were 17) trying to jump her because they were cutting in and out of the line so we stepped past them and wouldn’t let them cut in front. The staff in the corner of the room did nothing to help the situation nor did they care when the group of teenagers started screaming at us and proceeded to push past the barriers to get closer to the front of the line. This ride was at an hour wait and we had seen this group twice while standing in line. It was ridiculous, not only that but it was a Friday so that meant these kids were skipping school to be there. We found that this park being where it is… is pretty much a state fair to everyone that lives in that area. They have the midway games to right along with that fact.
WDW is definitely superior in every way. From merch quality, price or quantity to cleanliness and friendliness from staff.. I wouldn’t recommend Universal.
The wizarding world is beautiful and very immersive but it’s too crowded and very little direction. It was so hard to move around and no one wanted to say “excuse me”. We did have a few amazing staff members in this area but they seemed swamped from the crowds and that’s honestly where most of their staff were so whenever you went somewhere else.. the other staff seemed overwhelmed.
This is all just from my perspective but I don’t want to go back.
