The Big Buddha was worth walking to but the guide could have interacted more with us and ensured we were better informed. Frequently spoke before we were all gathered near enough so we were uncertain of instructions or information about the tour. Food at the monastery was disappointing- tepid and though we had preordered some of us were unable to receive what we’d asked for. The boat sped along too fast, making it impossible to see dolphins- they Would never have been in such choppy waters. The guide delivered information whilst the noise of the boat masked her voice so we did not know what she said. I would have been happy to visit the Big Buddha independently had I known what was entailed.

This trip was a blast! And our tour guide Grace was beyond amazing. I have been on soooo many tours, and while guides are often happy and fun, I have never had a guide as joyful and enthusiastic as Grace. She went above and beyond to make the whole experience smooth and memorable. On top of that, she even gave me tips and ideas for things to do and see beyond the tour! While I think the tour is perfectly planned to pack in every little bit of Lantau island in a perfect little bundle, it’s made 1000 times better with Grace as a guide.

Excellent tour at a bargain price with the most entertaining and funny tour guide ever. We had Grace for this tour and she was brilliant. Extremely helpful throughout the day and so comical. She guided us to the meeting location so there was no chance of us getting lost. The 7 hrs flew by and as we were sat down for mist of the trip is was not tiring. The weather was poor so no dolphins were spotted and the cable car journey was all in the clouds but it was a still a brilliant trip which I would definitely recommend and if you get Grace as your tour guide she will make your day unforgettable and get you laughing straight away. You can pay a lot more for private trips in cars. Don't waste your money. We got a lovely lunch and snacks included as well as postcards and videos of the dolphins we could have seen. And don't be put off by the 268 steps up to the big Buddha. You don't have to go up them, there are plenty of things to see at the bottom of the steps and you can also watch all the visitors taking selfies which is highly entertaining.
