I participated in the market tour and cooking class (not for dinner, but for lunch). I can confidently recommend this experience.
The Phosy Market tour is an incredibly stimulating place, filled with fascinating sights such as an impressive variety of vegetables I had never seen before and exotic meats from unusual animals. Si and his wife kindly guided us through these details, which can be a bit challenging for foreigners to understand on their own.
In the cooking class, you can experience the process of creating pure and authentic Lao home-cooked dishes. Unlike its neighboring countries, such as Thailand or Vietnam, Laos doesn’t have a strong dining-out culture, making it hard to encounter genuine Lao dishes like those prepared at home (this is just my personal observation). What I found particularly valuable was the opportunity to truly understand and savor authentic Lao cuisine through the cooking process and lunch.
This amazing experience was made possible by the hospitality and warmth of Si and his family. I believe this activity will greatly help you gain a deeper understanding of Lao culture.
