All-inclusive dagtour ontmoeting met walvishaaien vanuit Riviera Maya

Daniel and Chino offered such an amazing experience. They were willing to pick us up at our very remote destination, other tours were not, despite claiming otherwise. They seemed better than the other tour boats at spotting the whale sharks. They were fun and very caring when I developed a surprise case of seasickness and they had a ton of extra water. I am told the shrimp was good. The breakfast was sufficient and they had a ton of extra waters free of charge on the boat. If you are very lucky, you might even run into some dolphins. I can't recommend enough, just don't forget extra cash and maybe take some Dramamine just in case!

Lara was our guide and she was really good, I'm sorry to have forgotten our driver's name but he was also good. The boat had a fantastic captain who worked hard for us and Benji was kind and helpful to my daughter as well as doing all the running around and helping us swim with the whale sharks. We were picked up on time but had a very long drive ahead and unfortunately spent over half an hour waiting for other guests at their pick ups. When we evetually arrived at the port, we were given a tasty breakfast and had enough time to eat, change, toilet, etc before going out to the boat. We enjoyed the boat ride although it was choppy and very bumpy at times, the captain tried his hardest to avoid the biggest waves and bumps whilst still getting us far out to sea to find the whale sharks. We were 10 on the boat and we did all have the opportunity to swim with a whale shark at least once. Some were lucky enough to go twice. The swim itself was very quick as the whale sharks weren't staying on the surface for long. I have conflicting feelings - I think this company did their very best to find us whale sharks to swim with, and not to harass ones that others found (one had over 30 boats surrounding it), however we paid a lot of money for a very long day for essentially a 2 minute swim with a whale shark. The sheer number of boats out there made me wish we hadn't booked the trip. However, our guides really did try their best in the circumstances. After the whale shark searching was over, we went to Isla Mujeres for a snorkel and lunch moored just off the beach. On the way we passed hundreds of flying fish, a few dolphins, a turtle and 2 manta rays which we weren't allowed to swim with but did stop and enjoy watching them swim around us - this was my highlight as there wasn't another boat to be seen and we just sat still enjoying them interact with us of their own free will. We passed a beautiful island (Isla Contoy) and enjoyed watching the many birds flying around. The snorkel was a little quick but very good, and the time at the beach was lovely and long enough. The lunch was delicious. The boat ride was enjoyable - my son amd I loved being out on the boat all day - but it is nigh on impossible to sit in the shade all the time due to the movement of the boat / sun. Strongly advise bringing a rash vest and something to cover your legs with, plus a good wide brimmed hat. And plenty of water.

What an amazing day! Swimming with a whale shark was breathtaking and a once in a lifetime opportunity. So grateful for Abraham- a wonderful guide - knowledgeable and friendly - who took great care of us all . Tips: take the Dramamine and wear a rashguard and hat!
