The first 35 minutes of the ride were on the beach and was beautiful - a 5 star rating. We then stopped at a local fishing spot for a 10 -15 minute break, which for my part wasn't necessary but we saw local fisherman with their catch so was interesting. We got back on our horses and most the way back was on roads, through construction sites, next to heaps and heaps of garbage - it was disgusting and definitely took away from the whole experience. That was a 1 start which is why I have 3 stars overall. It would have been better to repeat the same route back and avoid construction, paved roads and garbage.
When you get back, they essentially force you to spend another 20-30 minutes buying stuff - pictures that they take and then souvenirs from a shop. We weren't interested and just sat waiting for the bus back to our hotel. I would have been less annoyed by that had we not just come through garbage dumps.
The guides were very good with horses but very very limited English so there was no explaining anything as we rose. Fortunately a member of our group spoke Spanish and translated some of the more essential information. I felt completely safe with the 2 guides so that was positive.
This is not an American trail ride with 1/2 dead horses. These horses were lively and we trotted/cantered off and on. Plus a few people wanted to gallop and one of the guides took those people off to the side to let them canter/gallop. In my experience, they never let you do that in the US.
