We booked the Nusa Penida One Day Tour with Bali Natural Tours and had a mixed experience.
Our Bali driver was great—punctual, professional, and helpful at the busy Sanur harbor. Our Nusa Penida driver was very skilled on the island’s narrow and bumpy roads, though not very talkative and shared little information—perhaps because he was focused on driving safely. In contrast, all our other drivers in Bali were quite informative, so this stood out.
It’s essential to start early—we had a 6am pickup from Kuta, but we were stuck because of heavy traffic heading to the harbor. The ferry takes about an hour, and on Nusa Penida, you can expect 15–45 minutes of driving between locations on very rough roads. It’s a full-day trip, and without an early start, the sun and traffic can make it unbearable.
The views at Kelingking and Broken Beach were stunning, but the tour is largely a photo op, with limited time to explore or swim. We could visit Crystal Bay and swim for some time, and lunch was very basic not worth it.
If you want to truly enjoy Nusa Penida, we’d recommend staying overnight on the island instead of trying to rush through in one day.
